What kind of shampoo should I use for thinning hair?

My hair seems to be thinning, one side of my hairline is higher then the other, and when i shampoo and condition, lots of strands of hair fall out of my scalp, I'm a guy.(15 y.o)

What kind of shampoo and conditioner should I use.

Not Tresseme!!What kind of shampoo should I use for thinning hair?
Try using root lifting, or volumizing shampoos and conditioners, this way they will make your hair look fuller. Garnier Fructis (green bottle) is good, and has a nice smell too, but Pantene is really good too. Those are my picks. Just look for the bottles that say root lifting, or thickening, or volumizing. Everyone's hair falls out in the shower, most people loose an average of 100 hair strands a day, so don't worry about that. What kind of shampoo should I use for thinning hair?

Nioxin, Salon Shampoo.

It has a minty smell not girly.

How do they put in hair extensions with white girls, or to add hair to thinning hair?

Each strand is 'pre-tipped' with a synthesized keratin protein that acts as a glue to bond the strands onto your hair. Heat may be used to bond, or 'melt' the glue, or some stylists use FastFusion technology, which uses air pressure to bond the hairs in faster time. Prices run anywhere from $10 for a single extension to $2,000 for a full head. How do they put in hair extensions with white girls, or to add hair to thinning hair?
The salon kind are really expensive and potentially damaging to your hair. I used the clip in kind after a bad chemical processing to cover the damage while it grew out. They can be a pain to clip in and hurt if you wear them all day, but they didn't damage my hair and would be a fun way to change up your look for a night. How do they put in hair extensions with white girls, or to add hair to thinning hair?
ive had extensions twice. the first time they weaved the hair with braids on the scalp and the hair pieces were sowed in. the second was with the glue gun.

the first way itches the crap out of ur scalp and u tend to have alot of brakage around ur scalp from scratching and it has to be redone every 6 weeks, the second is messy and leaves tiny blobs of glue in ur hair that cant been seen from a distance but ur aware of them and they make u paranoid.

i found the best way to get my hair long was no hair dies, regular treatments at the salon and regular trims.
as the other answers suggest, they can be glued, clipped[which is more temporary] or sewn in by cornrowing part fo the hair and then sewing the extension right in.
they have hair extentions for white women and glue for them too at your local hair store.

Hiyaaa babe, omg are you alright? Well, balding is an issue and obviously, your suffering.

I think the way in which you style your hair is important. Have you got curley hair?

Oh .. thats embarrasing. Joking lads!

Or you could colour the patches in with a felt tip. Or some chalk

Yeah why dont you try pinning your fringe back and then dragging it to cover any bald patches. I really hope that helps. Maybe use a bandana or head band.

To cover the patches

Or MAYBE a plaster. Pretend you have had a face lift and then wear a bandage. That would cover it.

Good luck babe, hope that helps you hunni =) xxxxxxx
Go to hairdirect dot com and see what they have to offer. I don't know what kind of extra hair you are using with clips, but this is a good website which will help you. Good luck!

  • hair straightener
  • Are there any hair products that can prevent split ends or thinning hair caused by a straightner or curling.?

I haven't exactly started straightening my hair or curling it a lot, but I was interested in it, but I have heard it can damage your hair. Is this true? And if so are there any shampoo's or conditioners that I can apply on my hair before straightening it to help it stay healthy? Thanks! Are there any hair products that can prevent split ends or thinning hair caused by a straightner or curling.?
yes, it damages it because you're sliding it inbetween two hot ceramic slates

get chi-silk infusion- it's a heat protective spray and makes your hair shiny and silky and soft and healthy, even on my coarse spiraly curly hair

make sure you have a good straighter like a chi

completely worth it and keeps hair straight all day

I started losing hair because I would use a remmington wet to dry straightener. don't use it! get a real ceramaic one.

blowdry your hair with a roound brush before hand so you wont have to use excess heatAre there any hair products that can prevent split ends or thinning hair caused by a straightner or curling.?
I have been dealing with frizzy hair all my life...my daughter and niece have frizzy hair...so I can tell you from experience, finding the right products and styling equipment will help...There is a blower/brush combo that will help...there are a few manufacturers. It looks like a curling iron but it has a blower (air that is hot and cool) that works at the same time. It blows air out and heats the attachment and acts like a blower and curling iron at the same time. The shaft of this thing comes in metal or ceramic and can make your styling easier, takes less time, and does less damage because it is does it all. i got my current blower/curling iron at Sallys, but I have seen them at Target also. Be care with the ceramic shafts because they get too hot and have a tendency to break off your hair. The one I have now is made by Revlon.
yes, it can and usually will

you should always use a heat protection spray before using any heat tools :)

for shampoos/ conditioners, i would use SUNSILK thermashine because it is meant to use with heat :)

and if you have split ends and want to get rid of them you can get a haircut (duh)

but the only other way is to use a hair serum (like garnier fructis sleek and shine serum) on the ends of your hair to temporarily seal the hair shaft.

    hope i helped :D
yes it can seriously damagw your hair. yeah of course there is, if you want to prep you hair before you straight you could always use thermasilk or paul mitchell. and you can buy heat protectant sprays also from any cvs / salon / or sally beauty supply
treseme always has heat protectors that you can spray on before you do your hair

Anyone out there ever used herbs or other to reverse their thinning hair?

Can you tell me what those remedies were and the resultsAnyone out there ever used herbs or other to reverse their thinning hair?
A friend of mine swears by Brazil nuts, rather than herbs. He eats about two a day and apparently, has stopped losing his hair!

No harm in trying,as you won't get any side effects!Anyone out there ever used herbs or other to reverse their thinning hair?
To make my hair thicker I used to put a couple sticks of celery(Depending on length of hair) in the blender or a food processor and then when it's all mushed up I would put it in a strainer to where I just had the pure juice. Then I would wash my hair with it, about once or twice a week, and it actually worked. I would try it, what do you have to lose? It could work for you too.
I have used a Biotin enriched shampoo with some positive results. Thicker hair, though I am still experiencing the receding hairline.

Is anyone using a product that helps thinning hair grow?

Is there anyone with good info about a supplement that actually work for thinning hair it runs in my familyIs anyone using a product that helps thinning hair grow?
look i dont support u on products actually .just start taking a good brand of vitamins, 2. cut 1cm of ur hair every month 3.stop using jel, mousse and perms, 4.u can grease the ends of ur hair with alittle amount of olive oil before u go to bed ..make it ur daily basisIs anyone using a product that helps thinning hair grow?
Yes, Rogaine really works. It takes about 3 months before you notice your hair is growing in. I used it myself. Also you can use CVS brand, less expensive.
My boyfriend uses Nioxin. Shampoo and Conditioner, helps prevent more hair loss and cleans the scalp well.
    I got a cheaper alternative Miracle Gro 2x's a day everyday !!

Whats the best follicle booster for thinning hair in African-American women?

I've heard about Nioxin but does it work for black people's hair?Whats the best follicle booster for thinning hair in African-American women?
    As soon as I saw this question i thought the same thing as Amber Marie, and I agree with her. There is no such thing as a ';follicle booster.';

If you, like most black women, are relaxed then the relaxer could be the cause of your thinning hair. It causes constant breakage and thinning over time. If you go natural then you'll see that you still have a head of thick, beautiful, luscious hair that will grow longer and stronger without the harsh chemicals. My natural hair is thicker than my thin relaxed hair, and it's growing without breakage (yey!).

Not to go on a rage against relaxers, but I'm just stating facts - they are very damaging to African hair types because the chemicals are very strong and weaken our hair, which makes it more prone to breakage. Even if you take good care of your hair at some point years of relaxing will begin to take it's toll and the chemicals will begin to break your hair. It's no coincidence that Oprah and many other celebs go natural after they achieve fame - it's probably because they come into contact with good hairstylists who inform them of the damage relaxers are doing to their hair - if you've watched Oprah over the years then she's talked about the damage and bad relaxers and her relaxed hair was always short. She recently showed a picture of her natural hair and its THICK and mid-back length and many people thought she was wearing a straight weave, but it's her real natural hair - pressed.

If you want healthy, long hair, but still want it straight then you're better off going natural and wearing straight sew-ins or flat ironing, because the chemicals are much worse than doing those things.

    I'm just sayin!

    ********

EDIT: Glad to know that you're natural. I'd take the advice of the other posters and see a doctor and try to the bottom of it. Sometimes ill healthy can be the cause of thinning hair and hair loss. Sorry, for assuming you were relaxed, but reality is that most black women relax their hair, so it's a logical conclusion.Whats the best follicle booster for thinning hair in African-American women?
I am sorry, but that is just a scam, there is no such thing as a ';follicle booster'; Thinning hair is a biological symptom and cannot be helped by shampoo. I assume that you have seen a doctor, what did he/she advise? Hair thins for a reason, and the only thing that you can do is treat the cause.
I think Nioxen is great for thinning hair...It won't grow your hair thicker or longer but it will take good care of the hair you already have.....I do suggest to my clients that they take biotin or prenatal Vitamins along with what they use externally....biotin is crucial to keratin replacement in hair and nails.... biotin every day with a multi.. or a prenatal will really help strengthen your hair....it won't work over night give a 3 month try.......And in the mean time be kind to hair you have....nothing harsh on it.....just a lot of TLC.....
i have an african american friend, and she is beautiful. she says she uses this hair product that she bought on the internet from omaha, NE.

What's a good non-surgical way to ';cure'; thinning hair?

I dyed my hair a lot in the past and on some parts of my head, my hair is thinning and I would like to know a good non-surgical way to ';cure'; my thinning hair because I get upset when i look at old pictures and see how full and thick my hair was, and right now its not terrible but you can still see a difference. Please help me. Thank you.

P.S. I'm only 16 so I know its not an ';ageing process';..trust me LOLWhat's a good non-surgical way to ';cure'; thinning hair?
they have special shampoos for that

also if you sleep with your hair up your hair thins more so sleep with your hair down

try this thickening mousse by garnier fructis. youve got nothing to lose!!!

http://www.garnierusa.com/_en/_us/our_pr鈥?/a>What's a good non-surgical way to ';cure'; thinning hair?
    I had that same problem.

All you need is volumising shampoo and conditioner. You need to get the right vitamins and minerals a day and you need to stop dying your hair as much. Trust me, it is particially true when people say dying your hair too much makes it fall out. It doesn't fall out...it weakens. It goes brittle and dry. You need to get some life back into it.

The best way to start is to stop dying your hair for about 3 months...let it heal in that time. During that 3 months, use Healing and Volumising shampoo and conditioner and get your intake of vitamins and minerals.
its from to much of a certain type of testosterone your body makes.

the best way to get rid of it.....this is an answer that should be taken with maturity by the way, and is a real answers so dont go reporting me.....

the best way to get rid of to much testosterone is to ejaculate by either masterbating or sex 2-3 times a day. everyones body is different and you may be producing to much testosterone. if you already do it that much do it more! (seriously)

also try working out too because it can happen if youre not fit i heard, but idk about that one...

    goodluck!
dont dye your hair anymore- the chemicals shrink the hair. there is no ';cure'; but a way to prevent further thinning is to regularly use a moisturizing and strengthenthing conditioner and shampoo. also, buy some strengthening leave-in-conditioner. also, dont blow dry or straighten or curl your hair with any iron like things

    good luck!
Uhmm...buy Vitamin E shampoos and conditioners, use alotta olive oil brand hair treatments and grease the roots of ur hair

check out my hair, i dunno if this helps tho :p:

massaging ur scalp with ur finger tips ..

hair masks : olive oil , castor oil , coco oil ... all mixed up together or each with some honey ..

raw egg : adds volume to your hair .. ( yea its kinda yuchy but it works ) ...

rogaine ... for men or women , both work with me =))

hair tonics , don't wash your hair with hot water ..

thats all I can think about ..
Its probably genetics..not much you can do but you can add volume buy getting layers chopped in you hair to give an illusion of thicker hair. Those shampoos dont work.
what if you try some vitamins from the health store
Start Rogaine now. No, seriously, start right now.

I'm 26 and bald. I started thinning at 17. I guess I'm not really completely bald naturally...but I've got male pattern baldness going on, so I chose to shave my head back in 2006, and I haven't looked back.

Rogaine (Minoxidil 5% or higher) will work very well to keep what you have and possibly regrow lost hair. It worked for me for a while to keep what I already had, but I gave up. If I had been doing it (now they have a cool foam to use) since I was 16, I would still have hair now.

    Trust me - do it.

Propecia is a medication prescribed by a doctor to save the hair you have and regrow what you've lost. It works by blocking DHT in your body (which can kill off hair follicles). I cannot say if it worked for me or not, as it tore my stomach apart as a side-effect. I was constipated, cramping, nauseous, and still balding....so it didn't work for me.

There are plenty of options out there, but Rogaine is the safest bet to work. Also, you'll find it a lot more effective if you really, really cleanse your scalp everyday before you apply the stuff. Go to your local beauty supply store (where all the hairdressers go to get stuff - Sally Beauty, Ulta etc) and get shampoo for thinning hair, or an ultra cleanser to remove oils. Once the scalp is crazy clean, the minoxidil will soak in better, and you'll see better results.

This is going to be a long journey for you, my friend. You'll have great results if you stick to it, and don't let any of it bother you. And honestly, once I knew I was too late and I shaved my head, I got a lot more female attention - for what it's worth.

    Good luck.

Will taking Metformin for my PCOS help with my thinning hair, spots, and extra body hair?

YES, it will help. The only long term side effect I could find was reducing B-12 absorption, so take a good multi vitamin. PCOS can be controlled through the same diet and medication as people who have diabetes.

I think most ladies love a more high and tight look. Ladys? Why do men that have crown hair or thinning hair grow it long like a 70's Hard Rocker?
I agree, if someone is loosing their hair, letting it grow long, scruffy and straggly just is not a good look for a guy. My hubby has been bald for the past 15 years and he keeps it cut really short and I like it that way. I even like the shaved head look. Why do men that have crown hair or thinning hair grow it long like a 70's Hard Rocker?
On a TV program I saw a man with hair balding like that. I believe it may have been on the Dr. Phil show. His hair was a bit long and skragley. They had someone from a salon cut and shape it; he looked really great. They did not make it real short; shaping was the secret to the sharp cut.

How can I make my thinning hair less noticable (16 yr old guy)?

Hi, im a 16 year old guy and my hair is thinning, is there any way to make it less noticable. I'm at the point of even considering something like rogaine. Is there something I could try before hand? Im kinda self concious about it cuz i get alot of comments from my peers about me ';balding';.

16? I honestly have no idea. You could try going to the doctor. There might be something more serious going on than just thinning hair. How can I make my thinning hair less noticable (16 yr old guy)?
have you tried nioxin products? i use them because they smell good and my hair seems happier after. other people swear by them for thickening hair.

one thing you definitelly want to do is use better hair products. i had major fallout from trying some crappy conditioner that was like 90% wax.
I think it'd be totally hot to just shave your head. completely gone. My friend did that in high school and he always was having people sign his head in Sharpie.
I'm sorry to hear about your problem, It seems like a young man your age shouldn't have thinning hair. You might mention this to your mother and have her take you to see a doctor. Maybe you have a hormonal problem that is causing you to loose your hair, or another medical reason. I dont know the age approval to use rogaine, I would try a medical doctor to rule out anything serious. You never know it could be a sign of any number of medical problems , maybe thyroid. Dont let embarrassment of your problem keep you from finding out the real reason. Good luck
If your hair is thinning at such a yong age,you should get some medical advice. That does'nt sond normal at all.
Well you have a couple of choices 1. Shave your head. 2. Shave head into a mohawk. 3. Buy hair thinning products.
bend over and blow dry your wet hair upside down.
Whatever you do, DON'T GET A SHORT HAIRCUT. By cutting your hair short it just shows where you're balding and the bald spots are 10 times more noticeable.
try the rogaine and if you go bald you go bald do it with confidence though, or take the initiative and shave it now and get used to that look and just be yourself
It has become quite trendy (and not unnecessarily so) to simply shave the head. My husband's hair wasn't so much thining and receding (slightly), and he had me just take his beard trimmer and shave it all off. It looks great on him, and on many other men I've seen. If you are really attached to your hair, Rogain or some other might work. Ask your doctor about medicines. They might refer you to a specialist who can give you even more options, too. But, in my opinion, a person who just loves what nature gave them is much more appealing than one who fights nature every step of the way.

Are you a woman who once had thinning hair?

If so, what products did you use to start your hair growing again? I look around and see many woman with hair loss including myself. I have tried several products, but have not found the right one yet.Are you a woman who once had thinning hair?
Well I don't have thinning hair, but my mother-in-law did. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago and lost all of her hair due to radiation treatments. She had a hard time regrowing her hair when she was done with the therapy and her hair was really thin. Her sister bought her a bunch of Nioxin products and they worked really well. It's a bit expensive, but her hair is really thick now, so I think it's safe to say it works.

Older men! Have you ever personally used a treatment for thinning hair, and did it work?

Whenever I go to get my hair cut, some clever scissors-wielding git tells me I'm going a bit thin on top and tries to flog me tonic. I always refuse, partly because I'm not bald yet, and I'm an optimist, partly because I'm a technophobe and believe that tonics might actually make my hair fall out faster, and partly because I hate people who tell me that my hair is thinning. But are they right? Do any of these tonics actually work?Older men! Have you ever personally used a treatment for thinning hair, and did it work?

I had a few dozen rabbits tattoo'ed on my head------- from a distance they look like hares.

go bald gracefully an quit being a poser :o)
An ex of mine used to go for that shiite. All it used to do though was leave a red rash around his hairline. Was really pricey though. Load of bollox. Can't beat a short crop when it comes to going bald. Defo no Bobby Charlton combovers.
My ex boyfriend used to spend $150 per bottle to use on his thinning hair. Funny part was that when he got out of the shower, he'd have to spend another 5 minutes cleaning out his hair from the drain. So, to me, no these treatments do not work.
You should start using Nioxin shampoo, I have found it brilliant on my clients......there will be one to cater for your specific hair type, it is best to buy it from somewhere like trade secrets so you have the help of the stylist top match one for you...

These hair loss ampuoles I have attached are amazing but they are about to be discontinued.....it would give your hair a good boost too

An article in the either the British Daily Mail or Express the other day mentioned a new, upcoming treatment that's being developed. With caffine! Apparently it surpresses the hormone thingy that causes thining, i don't know if it reverses it, but it sounds like it might as the article speculated that it could be an even simpler/easier treatment than the second new one i'll mention. Apparently they say the alternative is to drink 60 cups of coffee a day (DON'T AS I'M PRETTY SURE THIS WILL KILL YOU)... or, you know, wait till this new medication arrives that delivers direct treatement to the area.

Another treatment that i've read about, thought to be available around 2010, God willing, involves taking a scalp sample from the side of the head (where the follicles either don't attract, or aren't affected by the hormone) stimulate them in a lab and re-inject them into your scalp some months later, after another few months it should re-grow, if it works, and not fall out again (as these new follicles wouldn't be affected by the hormone). It sounds similar but better than a hair transplant (or 'hair plugs' as some call them) which involves transplanting/'plugging' whole hairs from the back or side of the head. They can look quite ugly and unnatural though, like doll's hair and they're simply removing hair from one part of the head to another. Anyway, the article said the new treatment should be a cheap procedure and take up to 1000 injections for a fully bald head. It also said that in the future, it could be that baldness would be a choice. So hang in there.

Do dreadlocks cause thinning hair or hair loss?

I've seen it posted in a few forums by different people claiming their dreadlocks (or their friends) have caused their hair to thin, led to bald spots, or simply caused them to to lose hair.

At the same time I have seen it posted on Dread FAQs that this is a simple myth.

So, what is the real answer?Do dreadlocks cause thinning hair or hair loss?
it depends on person - genetics!Do dreadlocks cause thinning hair or hair loss?
Yes hair styling can cause hair loss. If it hinders good blood circulation of blood in your scalp and your hair is constantly pulled tightly, then it could really make you lose hair. Also, the chemicals and styling products that you use can contribute to hair thinning and eventually hair loss.
yessss. i had a friend that did it and she hated them. so she had to shave her head, wen it grew back it was veryy thinnn. dont do it.
Depends... If you have them in for a long time it can speed up the process. After a while it puts stress on the roots of your hair. Check out KnottyBoy.com..They've got everything you need to know. =D
there are many reasons hair can thin

i wouldnt say dreadlocks cause hair to thin

    dreadlocks arent really heavy

    (unless wet)
Dreadlocks do require maintenance. Yes your hair will thin if you do not maintain it. You must keep your scalp clean and use the correct oils.

There is nothing you can do, short of a hair graft. Baldness is hereditary.

Im a woman who has thinning hair what can I do?

About a couple of years ago my hair started thinning especialy in the front. Does anyone know anything I can do to get it to grow again??Im a woman who has thinning hair what can I do?
It is important that you get an immediate blood test to check for Thyroid problems.

My hair started thinning %26amp; I was told by a skin specialist that it was ';male pattern balding'; and to live with it.

But when I insisted my local GP check further, he finally realized it might be a symptom of Thyroid problems, and it was!Im a woman who has thinning hair what can I do?
if u wanted u could get those regrowthing hair treatment things
Reflect upon the many times that you've criticized bald men.

Take good care of your hair! It will add to your charm - who can resist a person with lovely, silky hair? So do try out the above tips! Hope these littles tips have been useful! :)

    Take Cares!
You have a few options, but first locate the source of your hair loss. Pattern hairloss can be a sign of stress, poor diet, or other more serious health issues. See your family doc if you suspect such a situation.

If you have hereditary hair loss, there are also many options. Nioxin professional salon products offer a full line to maximize your thinning hair and hep regrow new hair. They offer shampoos, conditioners, scalp treatments, styling products and vitamins. Topical medications for hair regrowth, such as Rogaine for Women, are also a popular option. Topical solutions are applied to the scalp and show varied results. They also stop their effects as soon as you stop using them.

Another option may be to see a licensed professional stylist who can guide you in choosing a style that will conceal your thinner areas.

    Best of luck!
Guasa boards. Bits of Water Buffallo horn, combined with taking spirallina (some kind of wild grass i think)... I don't think I can spell spirallina.

It made my Dad's hair grow back, which was pretty odd to watch.
go see a doctor...your hormones may need to be checked and start taking prenatal vitamins..they will work wonders...they can't hurt you they are just plain vitamins, but just the right mixture for women...I get mine @ Wal Mart (it's a huge chain store here) for only $5..very reasonably priced
Nioxin Shampoo and conditioners works great. It is only available in professional salons or beauty supply stores. My mom used it during chemo and I use it now for alopocia.
Use a scalp vibrator twice a day. It grows hair by improving circulation. Yes, it is also used below the waist. There is also a solution (Rogaine) you can get from your Dr. that will help grow hair if the follicles are still alive but you have to use it daily or the hair you bring forth will recede.
    use wheatgerm oil
Have you seen the doctor? You could try this shampoo bar and it helps to reduce temporary hair loss:

u can put regrow (minoxidil) its proven. poor nutrition and stress are the major cause of hair loss and thinning. improve your eating habits.
I have the same problem and I would suggest Rogain for women but it says if you stop using it more hair will fall out. So I decided to just let it be. Now what I do is comb my hair back and wear it in a clip. It isnt noticeable. Good luck.

Are there no other approved solutions for thinning hair and balding?

The only approved drugs are minoxidil and propecia? Are there any other effective ways besides those scams? Are there no other approved solutions for thinning hair and balding?
This natural, safe treatment truly stops loss almost straight away and forces new growth (can send you testimonials). Massage thoroughly with olive or any essential oil - then brush vigorously using a palm held brush with short natural boar bristles - soft bristled for fine straight hair and stiff bristled for thicker non straight hair- so you really feel it stimulating scalp - 70 /100 strokes at beginning building up to more - each day, focusing on where loss is. Will heal scalp and unplug blocked hair ducts that sometimes cause loss - they are the painful small itching spots. A little shedding and breakage may occur at first but quickly stops as brushing makes hair stronger and better anchored. Hair will grow fast, thicker and It will force the new growth. Initially new hairs will be weak looking and sparse. Don't be concerned if brushing uproots them as they will re-appear even stronger. My hair has completely regrown on crown. Where receded at front regrowth was slower and sparse at first then each month it became denser. It demands perseverance week in, week out to get the same results.

Thinning and loss can be caused by many shampoos - particularly anti dandruff ones - and hair products that contain countless hair, scalp and even health harming harsh and toxic ingredients. Find ';Non harmful shampoos, etc'; with Google searches. Some will come up and be expensive or only available on-line so refine search by adding ';low cost';. Available in GNC, Trader Joes, Some Walmart Stores, Cost Plus, Wegmans, Earth Fare, natural %26amp; health foods stores.

I Have had feed back from other users. One had substantial regrowth in just 6 months.

    Wish you the best.

SOURCE(S): 20+ years research, experimentation using natural treatments for hair loss, regrowth and cures of skin, scalp and hair disorders. Are there no other approved solutions for thinning hair and balding?
I understand your frustration. Although Minoxidil %26amp; Propecia are the only drugs that are FDA approved for the treatment of baldness/thinning hair, there are some of us that have had success with other Treatments.

I use emu oil shampoo and Nutriox scalp treatment. Although I will never have the thick hair I had in my 20's, I have noticed regrowth and added thickness. I also use a scalp staining product called dermmatch.

I know it's for women, but check out

  • Can anyone advise on thinning hair and do products really work?

Do some research on a herb called pueraria mirifica, its known as a fountain of youth... it supposedly is almost an exact match for the hormone estrogen and is there for known as a phytoestrogen and has many health benefits for women! It alleviates grey hair and promotes new growth... also it serves as an anti-wrinkle agent and enhances bust and can even enlarge it depending on the dosage!

This is all natural and has only recently been discovered by the western world as it is only grown in certain areas of thailand.

Have been taking it for a week and two days and can already see its effect, espcially on my skin:)!

hope this helps youCan anyone advise on thinning hair and do products really work?
I've been there, and no the products do not work. The best thing I've found is taking vitamon B12 and vitamin A %26amp; D.Can anyone advise on thinning hair and do products really work?
no I'm sorry no products really work it just a waste of money and a scam to all the poor men who are losing their hair...
Typically there is not much you can do. You need to focus on getting appropriate nutrients that feeds the body and hair. Lustrous hair begins from within. Eat foods high in zinc, selenium, protein ,omega 3, and b-vitamins. A great multivitamin is at www.invitehealth.com. Also, don' t think supplements with suffice. You need to eat nutritious food daily for optimum health.

Nioxin has a full line of hair shampoos and products as well as vitamins for thinning hair. They provide the nutrients needed to keep the hair you have, and the products help with the image of fuller hair. There is NO product that can re-grow the hair that is already gone.

    Good luck!
If your hair is thinning then thats that i'm afraid! DONT BE SUCKED IN BY THESE MIRACLE CURES.. PLEASE!!
Try taking Linseed oil tablets and Kelp in tablet form, you can get both from places like Holland and Barrett. They worked for me, its just about replacing lost nutrients in your body, Kelp is also good if you're trying to grow your hair as it speeds up the growth process for about 3 months then I'd reccommend a break of about a month.

I'm wondering, has anyone had any success using Nizoral for combatting either male or female pattern baldness, or thinning hair? Has anyone experienced thicker or healthier-looking hair after using Nizoral?

Thanks!Anyone had success using Nizoral for baldness or thinning hair?
no, my father uses nizoral and it's very good to remove or eliminate dandruff but doesn't thicken the hair. use aloe vera plants and apply it directly on your scalp once a day. we managed to get a plantdring one of our visits in asia but it has to stay indoors during winter.

To my knowledge no one in my family went bald anywhere near my age. What possible causes could there be that I can investigate before I accept that it's just the way it is?Started thinning hair on top at 21, what possible reasons?

Genetics mainly..but it can be encouraged through stress, anxiety, poor diet, smoking, lack of exercise and toxic chemicals in your body. Look at your lifestyle if you want to figure it out. Otherwise if it is genetics, then unfortunately... you will be bald.

Unfortunately, if your father was thinning, so will you be, and you can pass it along to your son, as that's how it works with genetics.

There are some things you can do to help:

Make sure you eat enough high quality proteins in your diet.

It goes to your hair and nails.

If you don't have softened water, see if you can get it; the minerals in your water can make your hair break off prematurely.

Use the gentlest shampoo you can find, for your hair type,

and always use a wash-through conditioner, leaving it on

    for three to five minutes.

Use a very wide toothed comb or brush to brush your hair

out, always starting at the bottom and moving up. Don't do

much to it while it's drying, as tying it back tight will make it break and stretch. Dry it naturally, not with a dryer, as much as possible.

Find a style you love, and go for it. Your hair loss is probably not as noticable as you think it is.What is good for thinning hair?
Start taking fresh royal jelly liquid, its on beeroyalproducts.com you will feel amazing and be happy you got it. Royal Jelly is high in B-5 for healthy strong thick hair. Check it out .
Phyliss from the office is cool.
There's a few shampoos out there as well that help. My hair is thinning a little on top and I'm only 24. My hair was already thin, so to me it's really noticeable. Mine is due to stress and always pulling my hair back. lol Have you ever tried flax seed? It's really good with strengthening hair and making it thicker. You can get the oil or the pill or even the loose stuff itself. Take a tablespoon a day for the oil. You'll see a difference within a week or two. Nioxcin is a good shampoo for that as well, I just can't afford to spend the money on it. I personally did see results using that.

I thought the whole thing about the dad carrying the thinning hair gene was a myth or not completely accurate? Doesn't mom carry the gene? I mean, either way it doesn't hurt to look at the family tree and see who has thin hair.

im told propecia is supposed to stop your testosterone from turning into dihydrotestosterone, which is what causes baldness.

although if it already looks bad you might be out of luck since i think its more of a preventative measure.

i have this same problem, and i actually shaved my head clean. everyone said i looked younger actually, plus its soooooo easy. you just get in the shower and grab the soap for everything.

its hard when your attached to your long hair, but lets face it, sometimes life just deals you a crappy hand. if you cant have good looking long hair, you shouldnt go around with it looking all wispy and crappy. i hate to say it, but i think you should just say goodbye to it. its like an old car that just wont run anymore.

from experience i can tell you you probably wont miss it as much as you think. i had long hair in high school, and sometimes i wish i had it again, but when i think of all the pros, i really am better off now.

Flax seed. Available at any health food store. Should not be taken with some medical conditions, so ask your doctor first. Really does work to help thicken hair. Both my Mom and daughter who suffered hair loss from cancer were able to thicken their hair growth using this. My Mom's hair even started turning dark again.Does anyone know good home remedies for thinning hair that work?
    YES!!! Try Nioxin. It's good,
As a matter of fact I do. Drain the motor oil out of your vehicle, and rub it into your hair twice a month..To get the oil out, use Ever Clear 120 proof. Or denatured alcohol. My ex-wife had same problem and tried it..Works! Also might try some chicken poop on the hair..it also works.
I like the flax seed idea.

Anyhow, when you take a shower, really massage your hair and make sure the water (lukewarm - warm, not hot) water gets to every pore on your scalp. When you're done showering, towel dry it lightly. Then massage in 1/2 cup of almond or coconut oil into your scalp for about 15 minutes. Live it in for a few hours and then wash it out with natural shampoo!

    Good luck...
I wish i can tell you yes. But the real answer is no. I too have been researching.

Is there a natural remedy for fine & thinning hair?

I have extremely fine, dry hair that is now thinning and falling out. I'm afraid to use products with chemicals and would like to find a more natural means of thickening and growing more hair.Is there a natural remedy for fine %26amp; thinning hair?
Hi . I am a hairstylist and would like you to answer some questions first. Do you take any medication for high blood pressure? Are you in a high stress job? Do you color your hair with home products? These can affect your hair., also the way you take care of the hair is also important. Hair should be brushed starting from the ends to the scalp with a soft to medium natural bristle brush. Shampooing in luke warm or cool water, rinse well and gently towell blot. Apply a small amount of conditioner to the ends first working up the hair and not necessarily all the way to the scalp.if it is long (below the shoulder) put it up in a clipand cover with a shower cap. if you are in the shower, wait until you are done with your shower and rinse with cool water.Gently squeeze out the water with a dry towel making sure you don't ruffup the hair . Come frome the ends to the scalp in sections with a wide tooth comb. If you use a blow dryer ,flatiron, curling iron , use a heat protectant styling product to prevent damage to the hair. A product line I would reccomend would be Pureology. I contains no harmful chemicals such as sulfites, propelene glycol , cocamide dea, which cause cancer and are dangerous chemicals. Also Bath and Body works carry a line of organic products that are very good. You should select a volumizing product line, Use these products sparingly including the shampoo as they may not suds as well as chemical products, but they are more concentrated .It may be good to check with a local healt or organic food store as sometimes they have products that are made with natural ingredients You cannot make your hair any thicker than it originall was, as ther eis no way to creat hair follicles , but you can prevent breakeage and damage by taking a little more care and time with your hair.. This will take time and patience , and you may respond to this with any questions you may have. Good luck, MichaelIs there a natural remedy for fine %26amp; thinning hair?
Honey, DO NOT GOT it cut in layers!! NO NO!! a short bob--or chin length blunt cut.... ALL ONE LENGTH ONLY layer/feather around your face a veryyyyy Little. IF it is long enough to put up in a wee pony tail... use one of the cute curly little hair pieces on an elastic ban to put it up with...(get at most SALLY'S or beauty supply house). Saves the wear and tear on your hair. They are cute and fun.. GOOD LUCK
No, You don't say if your a man or woman, but if your a man, there is a remedy for not looking like you have fine thinning hair. Shave your head. Go Bald. Its okay to just use clippers and have a little stubble even. Its maintenance free, and in these modern times when there is no ';in style';, only ';personal style';, its quite acceptable. And as an added bonus, if you shave your head and then go out and buy yourself a tailored suit for at least $1000, whenever you wear it, you'll look like you come from the future.
get a good haircut with lots of layers.

    remember, hair doesnt define you.

    it's you who define yourself.

Ladies, will you date a guy with thinning hair and a little bit of a gut?

I have thinning hair and I have a little bit of a gut. I feel very unattractive and I feel no woman would ever go out with me. Is it possible for a woman to like a guy just for his personality?Ladies, will you date a guy with thinning hair and a little bit of a gut?
The truth is sooner or later, everyone will have thinning hair, or gain a little weight, or devolpe other flaws, So in time really looks don't really matter, however, i'm sure if you keep your self presentable, and you be yourself, and embrace your flaws, you have more of a chance of girls responding. Theres someone out there for everyone, confidents is a very attractive quailty to have, so you should possess it!Ladies, will you date a guy with thinning hair and a little bit of a gut?
Yes, it's very possible! Of course there are things you can do to up the ante in ur dept: confidence is key-know ur worth it, if u believe it, they will believe it, dress to impress or at least be neat, great smelling cologne could only add points, and be very sweet. Hope this helps, keep ur chin up, females go after the ';good guys'; when they realize the ';bad boys'; are worthless. ;)
dont worry! any girl that answers no to this question is a dumbassss cause you dont go out with someone for how the look. and if i liked you, then i would! but i dont know you! hahaa

    please answer mine http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>

    absolutely.

i'm techinically too young to be answering this since i'm in high school still. but i doubt my view of stuff like this will change. personality is key. everything else is of less importance.
It really is but ONLY if you have all the confidence in the world and are completely comfortable in your skin! If you don't like how you look, change it and do things that'll make you feel confident about yourself.
of course it is, but to get a girls attention you should look good.

and i agree with the one before.

would you go out with a girl would had the same problems?
Are you willing to date a woman with the same issues?

What's the best hair style for thinning hair?

I am 30 years old and my hair is getting really thin. (I have PCOS) I was wondering what are the best styles to hide the thinning? Should I go really short? Should I stay away from dyes and etc??? HELP!!! My hair is just below my shoulder blades now. What's the best hair style for thinning hair?
You definitely want to stay away from long styles. (long thin hair just hangs with no bounce or resilience) I would suggest no longer than your shoulders, ideally above the shoulders is great with some cute sassy layers in it. If you so too short you might be able to see through your hair which the thinning would be very apparent. You could still color and such just consult with your stylist .What's the best hair style for thinning hair?
put it up in a ponytail
hair dyes dont cause ur hair to fall out if they're used correctly..although they can affect the texture of ur hair.going short would be a good idea it will add volume and body to ur hair.u can also pull ur hair back in a pony tail this way ur scalp wont show and ur thinning wont be noticable but make sure not to go too tight with it the traction can result in hairloss. get ur hair problem diagnosed by a dermatologist he will recommend u shampoos and topical treatments according to ur problem.also try some hair vitamins after consulting with him, these things help a lot.Good luck!! i know how awfully hard it is to deal with thinning hair.
for me put it in a bundle to make it look thick. And don't use the hairsprays hair dye ETC. They destroy your hair and the environment.
get a haricut with layers, it will make your hair looks as if it has more volume..
Cut it as short as possible. You'll be surprised how stunning you look, and it's so easy. Your hair worries will be over!

try MANE AND TAIL shampoo and conditioner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its actually for horses AND HUMANS...so dont feel weird..when its advertised its advertised by humans for longer or thicker hair...i dont know about longer...but it definetely helps THICKEN it after a while. LIKE A HORSES TAIL...THICK...ive used it!

What brands of hair mousse also contain protein and vitamins for thinning hair?

You would have to go to the store and read all the mousse cans to find that out. OR google it. but you should probably start with a shampoo and conditioner that does that. Look for a thickening shampoo and conditioner and then styling porducts/

What is a good hair cut for a round face (round cheeks) and thin hair, thats thinning in the crown?

I'm young and dress fairly fashionably.. lately Ive been clipping by (outgrown) bangs back to create some volume in the front where Im thinning but more often than not, I end up tying a loose bun and wearing a headband because my hair is longish - too long to wear open at work. What is a good hair cut for a round face (round cheeks) and thin hair, thats thinning in the crown?
With a round face you want to have volume above the ears and/or below the chin to create a balanced shape. Look at Kelly Clarkson's past and current styles, any celebrity with a round face and see what they have. You want to avoid round shapes in the style as well, that will add tot eh width of your face and can tend to add weight as well. What is a good hair cut for a round face (round cheeks) and thin hair, thats thinning in the crown?
You should definitely try hair vitamins, good ones. I have personally used Hair Formula 37 and Viviscal. Hair Formula 37 made my hair grow faster and Viviscal makes it thicker and healthier; it even makes my eyelashes longer. It takes several months for the vitamins to kick in so keep taking them. Honestly, it will help. Also, you might try Nioxin shampoo. That's supposed to help too.

In terms of a style for a round face I think longer is better but you need to have some movement around your face, like side bangs or a few pieces snipped shorter around your face. Some sites say never part in the middle and some say part in the middle but only if your hair is past your chin.

If you have a round face like i do, then no bangs is the way to go. it makes your face look more elongated.

this really 100% works!=]Is there anything that actually helps thinning hair?

I recommend having ur hair razored to make it appear thinner!
I don't think so. I think the best bet his that hair surgery where they take it from your back and put it on your head. I was thinking about getting that done myself.
Honestly speaking, when it comes to dealing with hair loss problem, there isn鈥檛 any fast and quick solution, especially when we are talking about regrow your hair using natural source. If you have hair loss problem, it is important that you get treatment in the early stage and not to wait until it results in a receding hair line and baldness on your head.

Here is something I learned to control hair loss:

    1. Check with your doctor. Sometimes hair loss can be a symptom of disease.

    2. Increase the flow of blood in your scalp. Some hair care product can improve blood circulation on your scalp.

    3. Changing your diet by eating essential foods that promote hair growth.

    4. Reduce stress level. Anxiety and stress are common causes of hair loss.

    5. Find a right hair care product. Many hair care products contain chemicals that are harsh and can actually be damaging.

Personally, I start having hair loss problem since I was 24 years old and now I am 35. I have tried many solutions including propecia but I wasn't very happy with the result. Among all the hair loss treatments, Vegetable Shampoo is most workable and effective. It stops my hair loss and now I find my hair a little thicker even though it is not as thick as before.

Don't wait until it's too far gone, check out this website http://www.hairsolutionsg.com It probably works for you as well.
why don't you get your hair thinned at the salon? it's just lots of layers so that the bottom is thinner.
You mean you want to make your hair thinner? or you want to help your hair from going thin?

Well here is how to make your hair thinner.

    -Wash your hair everyday

    -Don't condition

    -Blow dry everyday

-Basicly just wear out your hair and do everything you can to weather it.

And To stop hair from thining

    -Wash less

-Use preferably a natural / organic, very gentle and protective, nourishing shampoo, and conditioner

    -Condition regularly

    -Blow dry less

    -Dont heat style

-Use a protective, gentle, strenghtening hair moisturiser.
there are options you just have to find the one right for you

rogaine for men does have a system that works for some people

a salon product called nixxon scalp treatment for thinning hair, just a couple

last resort hair replacements ....do your research look for testimonials youll find more then you think
Your question is not clear. What do you mean ';help, works, results';? Like what results do you want?

If you mean, you want thicker hair, sorry, there is nothing that can do that. You are male, and all males start losing hair in late teens. Some will have quite a bald area by the time they are 30, some later. But that is just how it is. There is nothing that will stop it now. You would have had to do something much earlier, before the problem started.

Now all you can do is make it look as best it can. Keep it short so it does not get pulled flat and make it look thinner. Keep it clean so it has some lift. If it is really thin (bald spots), you may want to investigate getting a small hair piece to cover it.

But I say just learn to love it. Hair is not necessary for survival. Some women really find bald men very sexy. Get it shaved, and find these women!!

What can I do about thinning hair?

I'm 28, and my hair has starting thinning drastically lately. It has always fallen out a lot, but only recently do I notice that it really is visibly thinning. I think it is due to the stress in my job. Is this permanent or can I reduce it? Any ideas? Thanks! What can I do about thinning hair?

hope this helped ;)What can I do about thinning hair?
28 and hair thinning drastically, you must be really really stressed out! or does it run in the family? You need to seek treatment really quick, in case it becomes permanent. There are quite a few treatment centers in Singapore :)
perhaps if you stoped being stressed, that might help iit to stop falling out.

Which shampoo is better for thinning hair, and what if I use them both?

I bought Biotin shampoo with silica about a month ago for thinning hair near my temples. I recently read about Nisim Biofactors shampoo for thinning hair/regrowth. Is it fine/good/bad if i use them both, or if it is bad, which one would benefit me more? Please help!Which shampoo is better for thinning hair, and what if I use them both?
I never heard of either of them. If you dont get answers here try makeupalley.com or eopinions.

I recently had a 20 lb ovarian cyst removed, and I wondered if my thinning hair has anything to do with it?

It was growing for 5 years, and my hair thinned out quite a bit, and I wondered if that's what it was from and when will my hair thicken up again? I only had the one ovary removed. Thanks!I recently had a 20 lb ovarian cyst removed, and I wondered if my thinning hair has anything to do with it?
Hormone imbalances can cause side effects. A book I was reading about womens' problems indicated that ovarian cysts are likely a result of hormone imbalances. It may be the same hormone that is leading to your thinning hair. If so, just removing an ovary won't bring the hormones into balance.

If you check with an endocrinologist, ask them to determine what your insulin level is. High insulin (pre-cursor condition to diabetes) may cause other hormones to imbalance that leads to thinning hair.I recently had a 20 lb ovarian cyst removed, and I wondered if my thinning hair has anything to do with it?
Yes! thats one of the symptoms of pcos
Do you have hair thinning in your family history? if it is possible (if you have family you can ask) get info about the genes in that area. I am so sorry to hear about your cyst, that must have been difficult for you with the surgeries and recovery. You may ask your doctor about treatment for the thinning hair to help thicken it back up. If that is hereditary, it will be much better to treat it now. There are many different treatments for thinning hair now. Also, the thinning can be a product of stress, which I am sure you had a lot of. In high school I got small patches where the hair would fall out. I didn't feel stressed but my body reacted to it instead of me being emotional. I hope that helps give you some ideas to talk with your doctor about. Good luck.
It could depending on what medicine they put you on afterwards. I had an ovary removed in April of last year because of a cancer cyst on mine. The only thing I could think of is that they put you on medicine that could cause that and you want to look up the side effects to it.

What can you treat thinning hair with?

Rogaine and Propecia are the only medically proven products to regrow hair. They don't work in all cases, and depending on the hair loss, won't grow hair back on certain areas of the scalp. The crown is the easiest place to regrow hair, above the forehead, the hardest, if not impossible short of hair transplants. Good luck.

What is the best thing for thinning hair in black men age 24?

i have suddenly got thin spots all though my hair i have no real family history of hair loss and the thinning stared about a month ago a has just gotten worse in the last few weeks! i had a allergic reaction to bug spary about the time it started can this be the cause? What is the best thing for thinning hair in black men age 24?
There are many things that can cause your hair to thin. If I were you, I'd see a doctor to rule out any illnesses or environmental factors that could be the cause.

One major cause of hair loss is male pattern baldness. You say there is no family history, but do you know that you get it from your mother? It starts in your twenties. If that is the case, there is not much you can do except maybe have hair transplants.

If all else fails, the bald look is hot! What is the best thing for thinning hair in black men age 24?
I suggest a razor. My hair is thinning and I just cut it all off one day and its good. I don't know however if a allergic reaction is the problem and if so shaving it off and starting over should help.
Go to Sally's beauty Supply and Buy some Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner.

Also Buy a Bottle of Rogain, and use it religiously

There is not much more you can do

these two treatments will stop your hair loss
I have a friend like that. There are hereditary, organic and environmental causes of hair loss. I'm not sure if thats due to the allergic reaction, although it can be a direct effect of the bug spray if it contains chemicals which can cause hair loss and if you'd sprayed it over your hair.

I'd suggest the best thing is to see a doctor cos it may also be due to some medical condition which may need appropriate treatment.

If a doctor is not possible, you can protect the remaining hair, keep it moist and cool. Avoid stretching it. Use a more friendly comb. Avoid using too much chemicals(lotions, shampoos, sprays etc) on your hair unless they have proven protective effect on scalp and hair. If it keeps falling you can shave and still look cool.
I would see a doctor because it could be a sign of something serious. But, I wouldn't worry about the hair loss itself, shave your head. Bald heads are in style.
i would say not to use bug spray anymore and wear a hat. I think that it is normal and it will go away soon. If it does not go away I would ask a doctor about it.
To get your scalp healthy again, there is a shampoo that promotes this.

    Nioxin
    that could be the cause
    it could be stress related
Is there anything you worried about? If no, by any possibility, it caused by the allergic reaction. Some boy on interracialmatch.com told me that : in his region, the people regard the thin hair as the mark of intelligence.

Would you recommend bangs for thinning hair?

I have really thin curly black hair that is a little bit past my shoulder and I was wondering if bangs would look okay and make my hair appear thicker in the front by hiding my receding hair line? Would you recommend bangs for thinning hair?
well bangs take up a lot of your hair so it will actually make the rest of your hair thinner, but yeah it will make an illusion that you have more hair in the front.

I have thinning hair on the top of my head, what are some good hair cuts i can get?

I'm 20 and the hair on the top of my head is thinner, its easy to see my scalp through my hair.

So should I shave it like a buzz cut?

Or should I keep it long on top and shave the sides?

Any realistic ideas?I have thinning hair on the top of my head, what are some good hair cuts i can get?
Well, if you will look good on a skinned head cut, try it, hair will look evenly distributed on your head. If not let your hair just above your

forehead stay long, then comb it in upward motion to cover the thinning on your head top.

Im a young woman with thinning hair, what can I do to get it back?

Hi! Im 29 and my hair is thinning really bad on the top of my head. Ive been told by a dermatologist that I am slightly anemic. Could that be the cause? Is there any kind of vitamin or nutritional supplement that I can take to stop it? My Mom has hair loss also so it could just be hereditary but I want it to stop! Do you have any advice?Im a young woman with thinning hair, what can I do to get it back?
Before you ask strangers here, see your doctor. Anemia won't cause hair loss, but you may have other health problems contributing to it. Hereditary thinning is the most common cause of hair loss.

See http://www.tjclarkinc.com/d_hair_loss.ht鈥?/a> for a good explanation and the possible causes.Im a young woman with thinning hair, what can I do to get it back?
I agree with the person above - see a doctor about this one. While you're there, you might ask about Rogaine for Women... I frankly don't know anything about it personally, but I've seen it on the shelves in stores, so there are obviously products out there that might be able to help. I'd definitely ask a doctor about which one(s) to use, though.

    Good luck!!
It's not an uncommon problem- in fact they do sell a woman's version of Rogaine
NIOXIN is a hair care line. It will help you regrow some of your hair. And when you stop using it your new hair will not fall out. Rogain does not work like that so don't waste your $. I'm a hairdresser and I have seen 4 people use this line of product and if I ever start to loose my hair I'm going to buy it by the truck load. You can buy it at a salon, it is not sold in regular stores.
You could try regular oil massages with warm olive oil and go on a high protein diet. Eat lots of tofu, beans and green vegetables. Take an iron suplement for your anaemia. Use a mild shampoo and try a good ayurvedic hair tonic.

What can I do about thinning hair and thin stumpy eyelashes?

I want something to help them grow back. What can I do about thinning hair and thin stumpy eyelashes?
In your case, these could be the causes of your suffering

    Thyroid problems

Harsh chemicals (e.g. hair coloring, perms)

    Scarring from burns

    X-ray therapy

Telogen hair effluvium (shedding) - This is basically due to some temporary physiological upset like:

Rarely, hair loss may be an early symptom of disease like diabetes or lupus.

See if any of these is one of them

There are several treatment options that may help to stimulate and encourage hair growth. If hair loss occurs as a result of an underlying condition or disease, then the condition needs to be treated first. The various types of hair loss are treated with specific medication which includes antibiotics, corticosteroids, or steroid injections. For more serious episodes of hair loss, surgical procedures such as hair transplants, scalp reduction or skin grafts may be performed to replace hair loss.

Natural and holistic therapy offers a gentler alternative for people experiencing hair loss than the harsh effects of conventional medication. Treatments such as herbal and homeopathic remedies stimulate and encourage hair growth as well as support blood circulation, hormonal balance and thyroid functioning.

Herbal remedies along with good nutritional diet (supplements in case of severe deficiency or if directed by your doctor) help hair grow stronger and more plentifully by nourishing it at the roots. They achieve this by stimulating blood flow and supplying nutrients to the hair follicles and hence promoting healthy hair growth and slowing down excessive hair loss. Although the process begins within a few days, as the hair grow slowly, the results are visible only after a few months.

Herbs commonly used include Ginkgo biloba, Rosmarinus officinale and Xanthoxylum clavaherculis help to promote strong, abundant hair. Other powerful herbs such as Equisetum arvense, Avena sativa and Echinacea are effective combating hair loss and nourishing hair follicles.

    Hope all this helps

Facial hair does distract one from realizing that another is balding, but not that significantly.
I agree. They can't grow it on their head, so they grow it where they can.

What do you think about young men who use ';spray on hair'; to cover up thinning hair?

I have friend that has struggled with his thinning hair for many years. He has tried to many things to remedy his genetic problem.

But for the past few years he has sprayed on this black spray that gives the illusion of a fuller head of hair. This prevents him from many activities that he used to enjoy such as swimming and other water sports. His look also discourages him from going to public places quite often.

This so-called ';spray on hair'; does give an impressive illusion, but it's not the same as having a nice full head of hair that every young man should enjoy.

What alternatives does he have other then slapping on a wig or costly hair plugs? What do you think about young men who use ';spray on hair'; to cover up thinning hair?
Tell him to just shave it all. Bald is cool and It is hip.. Just go with it and quit fighting it. Lot`s of women LIKE bald guys. And did you know that bald guys have more testosterone (male hormone) than guys with full heads of hair..

Just beam with confidence, walk up and smile really nicely.. Bald guys are cute as can be to many many women.. Get into it and dig it..

And PLEASE GUYS, DON`T DO THAT COMB OVER STUFF. IT LOOKS HORRIBLE AND YOU AREN`T FOOLING ANYONE

God bless %26amp; hugs from Texas. {:-)

Either shave it all off or get a hair transplant. Transplant gonna cost you though.
I got my hair thinned also...but I don't mind as long as I am what I am. But once after getting married I will get myself a bald head.

So that's the best thing rather than spraying my hair and head with a harm chemical stuff. Or spending much money for hair treatment. Well it depends on that person anyway?
Well first of all let me say';Do they make it for woman too?'; It sounds to me like YOU are the one that has a problem with your friends hair loss and cover ups ...
Tell him to shave his hair off. Bald men are hot. Balding men, the opposite.
I've seen the TV ad, but never really seen it up close. I think it's more attractive for a man with a receding hairline to simply shave his head. Sexy!!!
Spray on hair?!!! Lol, he'd be better just shaving it all off and getting a bit of a suntan - would look much better than the spray on stuff. Does it not run when it's hot?!! And don't even think about a wig please..................
quit worrying about the hair loss and live his life is my call- hair is just something that your hat covers- or doesn't. lack of hair doesn't make Marines wimps, loads of hair doesn't make a man sexy (if he's homely and boorish all the hair in the world aint getting him a date).
Accepting himself as the man God made him to be. Self-acceptance is key if you want to be somewhat happy in life, in my opinion.
    you need proper hair care
I think they should just shave their whole hair off.
That is SOOOOOOOOOO pathetic! LOL LOL

My boyfirend is also balding. He had enough balls to shave it all off! Now he's drop-dead sexy. It's all in the confidence, you know.

Spray on hair! Lol, lol, lol. Did I mention that's pathetic?

Tell your friend to grow some balls and shave the rest of his hair off. Otherwise he'll day a pathetic wimp loser fool with spray on hair.
I dont think anyone should use spray on hair young or old.

But if he is continuing to use it he obviously likes the product.

I think it would be ok to use every now and then but it is sad if he feels he cant go anywhere without it...
He should try Rogaine. If he doesn't like that, he should just shave off all his hair so it makes it look like he did it on purpose. I like bald men and there are many others out there that do too.

My normally thick and curly hair thinned dramatically this past year due to a medication. Its currently brown, layered to my shoulders, with bangs. I am really not happy with the way it looks style wise and color wise. However I am afraid to do anything damaging and lose even more hair. Any suggestions?Need help with styling/coloring options for thinning hair?

right now i would suggest you stay away from any color that has peroxide in it. the hair is already damaged and weak, dont risk losing the rest of it. try going to a REPUTABLE salon and have a consultation, this should be free and at least the day before you are going to get anything done. dont wait til you are sitting in her chair with scissors and bleach in had and you feel pressured. tell her your concerns and ask her advice. if you are comfortable with the discussion outcome book an appointment.

  • Looking for a Conditioner to help with thinning hair?

I am looking for a conditioner for my hair, as My hair is thinning a lot. I currently use the Avalon organics Biotin Shampoo, which is pretty good.

I thought it would be a good idea to complement it with the Avalon Biotin conditioner. But as I look at the conditioners ingredients, I notice it has Dimethicone in it. I wanted to go as natural as possible, but this ingredient turns me off.

Should I be worried.Looking for a Conditioner to help with thinning hair?
a good conditioner for thinning hair is from Pantene. it's called Pantene for thin/thinning hair. my frind used it and it made her hair soo much more volumous and full.good luck:)

What are the most effective hair products for women with thinning hair?

Using a blow dryer can make hair look two to three times thicker than styling it with water or styling oils. When you blow-dry your hair, you plump it up, so it looks higher.

Crack an egg over your hair before shampooing, and toss away the shell. Massage it in for five minutes and then rinse it out. Since egg is basically animal protein, it has the same effect as the specially formulated shampoos. What are the most effective hair products for women with thinning hair?

    Hello

I can understand what you are going through and it can seem hellish!

Have you visited a doctor to rule out a possible health problems: PCOS? Thyriod? Low iron?

If you have tried that - which I did and none of the blood tests for those came back negative.

I would suggest a trichologist. I'm based in the UK and I see someone who works for Dr Philip Kingsley (one of the leading trichologists).

It turned out that I had very low ferritin levels and now I take iron and use drops. It can take up to a year to see any growth and I am hopeful!

I hope you find a solution.

    Regards

Thinning hair out? Does it make it thicker in the long run?

I feel like chopping it off! I have super long thick hair. im very tempted to cut it very short but i know i would cry. I want to thin it out and maybe get layers if i keep it long, maybe throw in some side swept bangs.. or maybe a short and new haircut? any suggestions?Thinning hair out? thinning hair is REALLY refreshing. I love getting that done cause I like long hair. It also makes it faster to straighten, and that will look WAY cute with the layers. After a while however, some wispys might come back at the roots... and those can get really annoying when you're trying to put your hair up... but it will make your hair healthier and easier to washThinning hair out?
